Safety around roadworks. It's a two-way street.
Main Roads is spending A$13.3 billion on roads over the next five years, so there currently is and will be lots of roadworks happening throughout Queensland.
This makes 'safety around roadworks' even more critical.
An advertising campaign was launched in March 2006, promoting the safety responsibilities of roadworkers and road users, encouraging drivers to slow down around roadworks.
To make your journey safer and easier around roadworks:
- be sure to allow extra travel time
- think about changing your route or consider public transport
- listen for radio updates
- check this website or your local newspaper
- slow down at roadworks
- drive to suit the conditions
- look out for roadworkers and signs, and follow their instructions.
Remember to check where roadworks are currently happening.
