Schools and students

When you're in the car or in your school bus, you've probably asked 'Are we there yet?'

To get 'there' you would usually need to use a road. A road is an open way that makes it quicker and easier to move people and goods, by car, bus, truck, motorbike, bicycle, or even on foot.

Everyone uses a road. They are used for business and leisure. People use them to go to work or school, to get to the shops and to have a day out with family or friends. Businesses use roads to take materials to factories and goods to the shop to be sold.

Main Roads looks after 33,536 km of state-controlled roads and that's a huge job. Next time you ask 'Are we there yet?' remember it takes a lot of work to get you there, safely.

Take a look at our Find a word puzzle (below). All of the hidden words are about roadworker safety. There will be letters left over. They spell out an important safety message.
