Improvements

The Brisbane Airport Task Force is implementing recommendations to improve access, enhance safety and manage congestion for motorists travelling to and from the Brisbane Airport precinct. The task force is delivering:

Improving airport access

  • Brisbane Airport Corproation (BAC) re-designing Airport Drive and Lomandra Drive intersection
  • BAC constructing extra lanes on Lomandra
  • BAC upgrading the Sugarmill Road and Lomandra Drive intersection
  • BCC and Main roads signalising of Kingsford Smith Drive and Sugarmill Road
  • Main Roads installing directional signs to advise motorists of the alternative Lomandra Drive route to access the airport precinct.
  • Main Roads planning to trial temporary signs on Airport Drive to inform motorists of real time expected delays in and out of the airport precinct.

Increasing public transport options

  • Additional Airtrain services
  • Extension of the 308 and 320 bus services
  • Complimentary BAC bus between International Terminal and DFO.

Increased traffic response via Motorway Breakdown Response Service

  • Quicker incident response with a free towing service for broken down vehicles on the Gateway Motorway and airport interchange roundabout (15 minutes in peak time, and 30 minutes in off-peak time) using the Motorway Breakdown Response Service.
