Featured road projects

Our Roads Implementation Program outlines road projects taking place across Queensland.

Below is a list of some major projects taking Queensland into the future:

Ipswich Motorway/Logan Motorway interchange

  • Major reconstruction of the interchange at Gailes and 2 km stretch of the Ipswich Motorway between Goodna and Gailes.
  • Due for completion mid-late 2009.

Gateway Motorway/Gateway upgrade project

  • Duplication of the existing Gateway Bridge and upgrade of 20 km of the Gateway Motorway between Mount Gravatt-Capalaba Road and Nudgee Road.
  • Upgrade also includes a second access to Brisbane Airport.
  • Due for completion 2011.

Sunshine Motorway

  • Upgrade of the Sunshine Motorway to four lanes between Maroochydore Road and David Low Way.
  • Almost completed.

Caloundra Road

  • Upgrade of Caloundra Road to four lanes, between Bruce Highway and Pierce Avenue. New interchange at Racecourse Road.
  • This will provide access to the new Caloundra Regional Business and Industry Park.
  • Due for completion mid 2009.

Forgan Bridge replacement

  • New four-lane bridge over the Pioneer River, Mackay.
  • Due for completion in 2009.

Bundaberg Ring Road

  • Provides an alternative arterial route around Bundaberg. The road will be 14.3 km long.
  • Due for completion in 2009.

Regional bridge renewal

  • An initiative to replace all timber bridges and older concrete and steel structures in poor condition.
  • The renewal will take place over the next 15 to 20 years.
