Traffic changes
Information about traffic changes in the Western Corridor can be found in the Western Corridor road projects traffic update (November 2009) (PDF, 321 KB).
Traffic management
Most of the construction activity for this project is confined within the preserved corridor with minimal disruption to motorists and the community.
Construction of the Yamanto Interchange may have minimal impact on motorists in the area near the Cunningham Highway between Ipswich Boonah Road and Kerners Road Yamanto.
Main Roads is using a range of methods to minimise traffic impacts and to promote safe and efficient traffic flow during these works.
The following changes are currently in place:
- Temporary sidetracks will be used to divert all Cunningham Highway traffic between Kerners Road and Ipswich Boonah Road around the bridge works construction site
- A give-way sign has replaced the free-merge entry for access to the Cunningham Highway at Yamanto (east-bound) and will remain in place until early next year
- Traffic lanes in both directions will remain open at all times
- Construction of the interchange is being carried out in stages - changed traffic conditions will occur as each stage progresses
- For safety reasons the speed limit through the construction zone has been temporarily lowered to 60 km/hour.
Please take care when travelling through the construction zone, observe any changed speed limits and be aware of the workforce delivering this project.
Please slow down – safety is your responsibility too.
