Holiday travellers
The most important thing to do in preparation for your holiday is to plan your trip.
There are a number of things you need to do to prepare for your holiday.
- Decide where you want to go. Check out Tourism Queensland or the RACQ.
- Work out the route you want to take.
- Book your accommodation — hotels, motels, caravan parks or camp grounds.
- Work out where you will need to stop along the way — rest stops, points of interest, petrol, meals.
- Check off our before you leave checklist.
- Check our roadworks and road closures pages and the traffic reports (Phone 13 19 40 for the latest information).
- Have a good time and drive safely.
Your holiday will be memorable for the wrong reasons if you have an accident. To help you and your family arrive safely:
- avoid alcohol
- keep within the speed limits and obey all the road rules
- don't drive when you are tired. Take a 15-minute break every two hours. Use Driver Reviver stops and rest areas.
There are a lot of roadworks going on in Queensland at the moment, ensuring your journey will be safer and even more pleasant in the future. Please drive carefully and slow down through roadworks.
Our What to do at roadworks page also has some helpful advice.
