Flood damage restoration works on sections of the road network that were damaged as a result of monsoonal flooding from either cyclones Ellie or Charlotte in early 2009. Covers five Main Roads regions, north and west of Mackay.

Forgan Bridge duplicationMackay/Whitsunday

Replacing the existing two-lane Forgan Bridge with a new four-lane bridge as well as upgrading the Kooyong intersection and Barnes Creek Bridge.

Hospital Bridge replacementMackay/Whitsunday

This project involves the construction of a new concrete bridge crossing over the Pioneer River to replace the existing low level timber bridge.

Joint Levee RoadMackay/Whitsunday

This project involves the construction of a combined levee bank and two-lane road from Sams Road through to Kooyong Intersection, Mackay.

This project is to rehabilitate and widen an 8.1 km section of the highway as part of a long-term strategy to widen the Peak Downs Highway between Clermont and Moranbah.

Traffic investigation at WalkerstonMackay/Whitsunday

An alternative route for through vehicles in Walkerston will enhance the efficiency of the Peak Downs Highway and improve pedestrian and local traffic safety.
