Nuclear gauge testing manual
The Nuclear Gauge Testing Manual (NGTM) is published to assist Main Roads in the building and maintenance of the state road network. The manual provides procedures and instructions for the safe use and operation of nuclear gauges to measure the compacted density of soils, crushed rocks and asphalt materials.
In addition to containing procedures for the testing of soils and asphalt, the NGTM details how to determine material biases (moisture content and wet density) for Troxler, Humboldt and Campbell-Pacific Nuclear (CPN) Gauges.
Feedback is encouraged and should be emailed or faxed as per the contact details in the manual cover sheet.
The manual was available from October 2003. Amendment 2 was published on this site in November 2007. If you have downloaded the original manual, you can update that version using Amendment 2.
