COGO

COGO is a computer program that is used to calculate coordinate geometry. It is used to solve the geometric problems encountered in civil engineering applications including:

  • property boundary and right of way surveys
  • highway and interchange design
  • construction layout
  • bridge geometry.

COGO input data is prepared in a text file by the user and processed by COGO to produce the solution as a text output file. Optionally, output can be plotted to a variety of output formats using the Multi Access Graphics System - MAGS. COGO input data is written using a series of commands which describe basic civil engineering operations, such as ALIGNMENT which is used to calculate the alignment details of a horizontal curve. The data needed to perform each of the operations are included as parameters to the command.
