Planning for a future upgrade of Burleigh Connection Road has identified early works that will reduce congestion at the busy intersection of Burleigh Connection Road and Southport–Burleigh Road.

Various updates to the Gold Coast Highway, Labrador - Government Rd to Stevens Street.

Project to reconstruct, modernise and fully upgrade the highway between Hilda Street to Chairlift Avenue, and support the expansion of public transport with continuous 24-hour bus lanes.

This project will upgrade Labrador–Carrara Road (known locally as Olsen Avenue), between Napper Road and Smith Street, to six through lanes. It will include additional turn lanes at the Parkland Drive intersection as well as constructing a new signalised access to the future Gold Coast Hospital.

Duplication of Hope Island Road between Cova Boulevard to Boykambil Esplanade.

At completion of works, features of the intersection will include:

• two right turn lanes from Albert Street into Loganlea Road
• two through lanes, northbound, from Albert Street to Kingston Road with one lane sharing a left turn into Tygum Road
• removal of the left turn slip lane from Tygum Road to Kingston Road to make a safer signalised left turn movement
• relocation of the traffic signals
• new pavement markings and signage
• reconstruction of two medians

To provide the Mabel Park State High School and Mabel Park State School communities with access between the two school campuses without crossing Paradise Road at street level.

Planning for the next stage of the Mount Lindesay Highway upgrade between Rosia Road and Chambers Flat Road.

The start of construction of new service roads alongside the Mt Lindesay Highway in the Munruben-Park Ridge South area.
