The project involves rehabilitating and widening a 6 km section of road to an 8.5 m sealed width.

Residential and commercial growth experienced by Gracemere over recent years has placed increasing demand on the local road network. Traffic volumes on Lawrie Street now exceed 10,000 vehicles daily, with many of these entering or exiting Gracemere onto the Capricorn Highway.

Following a safety review and analysis of long-term growth projections, Main Roads has commenced planning to improve intersection safety and ensure the efficient movement of traffic into and out of Gracemere into the future.

Rehabilitate and widen this section of road to a 9 m seal as part of a long term strategy to widen the highway between Emerald and Rockhampton.

Upgrading Deep Channel on the Carnarvon Highway by replacing the culvert and raising the height of the existing floodway.

Replacement of existing guardrails, full width rehabilitation, address seal edge wear and shoulder maintenance, minor drainage works.

The project involves upgrading the intersection which will improve safety for all motorists.
