The Safer Roads Sooner program has funded the full $1.2 million for this project.
Project info
This will allow the intersection to operate with a greater level of safety and efficiency. In addition, a signalised pedestrian crossing point from Egerton Street across Hospital Road to Egerton Street west and Egerton Street across to Ruby Street north will be installed.
The Ruby/Egerton Street traffic lights will be installed in the 2009–10 financial year.

Community info
Community consultation will take place toward the end of 2009 to notify and prepare motorists about the roadworks. Main Roads will also be providing an education program about traffic lights, as these lights will be the first set for Emerald.
