Carnarvon Highway Wallaroo Range Project

Overview:

Replacement of existing guardrails, full width rehabilitation, address seal edge wear and shoulder maintenance, minor drainage works.

Location:

Carnarvon Highway between Emerald and Roma - Chainages 68.51 and 76.14 km.

Benefits:

To improve the sections of this import freight and tourism route through the central mid west Queensland.

Project info

The Carnarvon Highway is classified as a State Strategic Road and is used to connect Emerald with Roma to the South east, providing an important freight and tourism route through the central mid west region. This business case covers project extents between Chainages 68.51 and 76.14 km.

The project works will include replacement of existing guardrail with complying guardrail, full width rehabilitation, address seal edge wear and shoulder maintenance, minor drainage works, preservation of Indigenous heritage items during construction, preservation of significant environmental areas/species during construction, delineation (incl. guide posts).

Construction is due to commence in the 2009/10 financial year.
