Project info
Duaringa to Emerald: Approximately 6 km of the Capricorn Highway east of Emerald between Winton Creek and the Australian Agricultural College will be rehabilitated and widen to a 9 m seal as part of a long term strategy to widen the highway between Emerald and Rockhampton.
The project is currently in the design phase where consultation with key stakeholders in being undertaken to determine access requirements to properties and businesses. Consultation has included one-on-one meetings with stakeholders including property owners, businesses, Central Highlands Regional Council, Sunwater and bus companies.
The provision for school bus stop pad/s within the project site is yet to be determined.
To reduce travel times and widen pavement to help accommodate the current wider/heavier vehicles.
The project is expected to start construction in 2010.
