Refreshed website provides an array of road and travel information

Following feedback from visitors to the Main Roads website, we have refreshed the site to provide a new view of current and relevant information about state-controlled roads in Queensland.

The Main Roads website is easier to navigate through improvements to the site structure following an extensive consultation process.

Refreshed Main Roads website

The home page provides a wealth of information for the first-time user or the frequent visitor and provides links to key areas such as:

  • News stories: promotes latest news, project openings, community engagement activities and site updates
  • Popular pages: features a ‘tag cloud’ to frequently visited information
  • Consistent navigation: with a menu along the top of each web page, moving between content areas is easy
  • Regional content: features traffic cameras, regional information, current road projects, news and a clickable map provides access to regional pages or you can search by suburb, town or postcode on the home page
  • RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feeds: are a convenient way to receive content ‘feeds’ about road projects, breaking news and traffic cameras.

Planning your trip with Main Roads is made easier with traffic cameras and points of interest (POI) presented on interactive maps. There are POI files for each of the driver stop categories associated with state-controlled roads. These include motorist rest areas, driver reviver stops, scenic stops and heavy vehicle rest areas. Files for installation of each POI category are available for Garmin, TomTom and NAVMAN Portable Navigation Devices (PND).

In the coming weeks and months, the Department of Transport and Main Roads will continue to improve its websites. We invite you to come back often to view the latest developments and explore the website.

We hope you enjoy the refreshed Main Roads website and find it informative. Your suggestions and ideas are welcomed via the Contact us page.
