Improvements to Main Roads website
Main Roads website now has new features to help commuters, travellers and communities across Queensland:
- interactive mapping
- Points of interest (POI) files for downloadable driver stop information
- RSS feeds for webcams, properties for sale or rent and events.
Improved mapping
If you are driving around Queensland, the new map will assist you to plan your trip and arrive at your destination safely. To access the map go to the Guide to Queensland roads section of the site.
The map has illustrated locations of:
- webcams
- motorist rest areas
- driver reviver
- scenic stops
- heavy vehicle rest areas
- heavy vehicle stopping places
- dual motorist and heavy vehicle rest areas.
You can select any feature on the map to find detailed information about a location.
Points of interest files
Points of interest files are featured for each driver stop category on Queensland's state-controlled roads, including:
- motorist rest areas
- driver reviver
- scenic stops
- heavy vehicle rest areas
- heavy vehicle stopping places
- dual motorist and heavy vehicle rest areas.
The files can be installed on your portable navigation devices and include download instructions.
At this stage, information provided is suitable for Garmin, TomTom & Navman devices.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds
RSS feeds are an online free subscription service. You can sign up once to receive continuous updates on your topics of interest. These will be delivered to your RSS reader. Information is available on how to use an RSS feed.
