Description

Main Roads is seeking "Registration of Interest" for the design, construction and operation of a service centre on the Warrego Highway between the Warrego Highway (Ipswich Motorway) and Ipswich City/ Esk Shire Boundary (Minden). Ideally, two service centres would be developed, one on each side of the Warrego Highway. The proposed agreement will provide facilities for road users on an exclusive franchise basis.

A high standard service centre along the highway will contribute to the amenity and safety of road users while creating opportunities for locals and developers.

The proposed service centre(s) will serve travellers, and encourage drivers to stop, revive and survive, helping to reduce driver fatigue. The local community will also enjoy benefits through further employment opportunities.

The Warrego Highway:

  • carries a high volume of commuter, local and interstate heavy and tourist traffic
  • is a designated principal interstate freight route
  • is close to urban and industrial areas
  • connects freight and travellers to Sydney, Melbourne, Toowoomba, Darling Downs, regional Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Main Roads has released land on the Warrego Highway to build this roadside service centre. Currently there are very few service centres in this area.
