Captain Cook Bridge independent report

An extensive investigation has confirmed Brisbane's Captain Cook Bridge continues to be safe and structurally sound.

Main Roads undertook an investigation into the structural safety of the Captain Cook Bridge. The investigation followed claims in 2007 that steel reinforcement had been damaged during a project to attach a cable gantry beneath the bridge.

This investigation is now complete. It confirms the bridge is safe and the impact of the gantry's installation was well within acceptable limits.

The results of this investigation were confirmed by Professor Peter Dux of the University of Queensland, an independent bridge expert.

A full copy of the final report into this investigation, including appendices and attachments, is available below.

The investigation fully confirms the results of inspections made by Main Roads and Professor Dux which found the bridge is safe and operating normally.

A full copy of Professor Dux's first report and a copy of the terms of reference are available below, along with a copy of the letter from the Director-General to the Minister for Main Roads, advising of the findings of the report.
