A new regional approach to Queensland roads
Main Roads is taking a new regional approach to better service communities, industry and local government councils across Queensland.
The statewide changes will improve Main Roads' service delivery and provide flexibility to respond to growth areas, opportunities to share resources across the regions and improve coordination and planning across government.
This new regional approach is in response to local government reforms and includes changes to the department’s district boundaries.
Main Roads will now have 12 regions across Queensland, supported by 18 district offices at the local level. District offices continue to provide local connections for local communities.
A new region based on the areas covered by the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Somerset regional councils will address strong growth in south-east Queensland.
The opening of new offices in Ipswich, Logan and in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area will ensure planning meets the future road network needs in these booming areas.
