Checklist for before you leave
Before you leave on your trip, check the following:
For vehicle
- Window wipers work properly and washers are topped up.
- Lights and horn work properly.
- All tyres, including spare, have plenty of tread and are inflated to correct pressure.
- Oil level is full.
- Battery water is at correct level.
- Fuel tank is full.
For trailer or caravan
- The vehicle is suited to the size and type of the trailer, boat or caravan.
- The trailer, boat or caravan is in sound mechanical condition, roadworthy and registered.
- The vehicle, trailer, boat or caravan is not overloaded.
- Loads are evenly distributed and properly restrained.
- Fittings, couplings and safety chains are fastened when towing.
- Number plates and registration sticker are visible.
