Project manager's risk management guidelines
The Department of Main Roads has adopted the AS/NZS 4360:2004 standard on Risk Management as the basis of its department wide Risk Management Methodology. Refer to that standard to gain a fuller understanding on the department's approach to risk management in general.
Main Roads has developed risk management guidelines to support projects in addressing project-level risk management. These guidelines provide instruction to staff in the process of risk management for any project being undertaken by the department.
Specifically, the risk management process is designed to raise awareness of threats and opportunities and to minimise such risks as:
- program/project overrun (in time or cost)
- litigation
- network unavailability/delay
- death/Injury
- community and road user concern
- environmental concern.
