Guidelines for assessment of road impacts of development
These Guidelines may assist industry assess and address potential road impacts of their development proposals.
While the Guidelines are not mandatory, they provide a basis for open and expeditious dealings between developers and the Queensland Department of Main Roads over development approvals.
The guidelines are only relevant where a development proposal has been referred to Main Roads as part of the development approval process of government.
Road impact assessment may be required under:

Transport Infrastructure Act 1994

Integrated Planning Act 1997

State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971
-
Environment Protection Act 1994
-
Mineral Resources Act 1989
-
Petroleum and Gas (Production & Safety) Act 2004 and
- the Forest Industry Memorandum of Understanding (between DPI-Forestry, LGAQ & MR).
It is strongly recommended before undertaking road impact assessments, development proponents and their technical consultants discuss with regional officers, the focus and level of road impact assessment required.
This will ensure a focussed and timely assessment that meets all parties' requirements.
