Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander constructive skills training program
This program is designed to provide better opportunities for Indigenous Australians and increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees within the construction industry.
Participants will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate I or II in Construction while gaining valuable hands-on experience on actual road construction projects.
Every effort will be made to help the trainees get permanent employment at the end of the traineeship.
The traineeship is being developed and run in partnership between Main Roads, Leighton Contractors, Horizon Alliance, Origin Alliance and RoadTek and is supported by Department of Employment and Industrial Relations, Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, the Bremer Institute of TAFE, BoysTown, the Construction Training Centre and Construction Skills Queensland.
