History

  • In the 1970s, significant residential development was predicted in the Samford Valley area.
  • This corridor was planned and preserved in the late 1970s and early 1980s as a result of concern over the ability of Samford Road to handle the growth in traffic from this predicted development.
  • Corridor preservation was based on current planning standards for a four-lane median-divided road.

Current status

There are no current plans for any projects on this corridor.

As the corridor was identified and protected many years ago, it needs to be re-evaluated to determine its role in the future transport network. This will be undertaken as part of the Western Brisbane Transport Network Investigation. This study is an investigation to determine the long-term transport needs in the west and north west areas of Brisbane.

Property acquisition

The state government already owns some of the property affected by the corridor. This property was purchased under hardship acquisition provisions, following requests from property owners.

You can find out more about property acquisitions on the Main Roads' property page , or by emailing www.propertyservices@mainroads.qld.gov.au , or calling +61 1800 806 414.
