Event sponsorship

Main Roads sponsorship policy has been developed to make sure all sponsorships entered into contribute to our core business and enhance the vision of its core business.

Our sponsorship policy, in line with the whole-of-government framework, has specific criteria that all proposals must meet.

Who can apply for sponsorship?

Local government, organisations and companies can apply for sponsorship. Individuals cannot apply.

Types of activities considered for sponsorship:

  • conferences
  • forums
  • award programs
  • events.

Types of activities not considered for sponsorship:

  • funding of individuals
  • events that have already been guaranteed whole-of-government support
  • events not appropriate to our core business or do not meet the government priorities
  • any event that is considered a high risk activity or with poor occupational health and safety performance
  • political or religious organisations
  • initiatives that include relationships with tobacco and alcohol companies
  • initiatives that include product endorsements.

Information Required:

  • executive summary outlining how the proposal links with Main Roads' core business and target audience
  • background information on the organisation or body that manages the activity/event including whether it has an ABN and whether it is GST registered
  • background information and statistics on the activity/event over previous years
  • proposed target audience
  • proposed date and location of the activity/event
  • details about marketing activities and media coverage of the activity/event prior to start date
  • comprehensive list of benefits, including how they relate to Main Roads’
  • specific opportunities to promote Main Roads key messages to your audience
  • sponsorship valuation details, including payment terms
  • other sponsors, particularly if they are Queensland Government departments.

In return for our investment, Main Roads must receive tangible benefits which provide value for money. Appropriate acknowledgement of Main Roads is mandatory.

Requests need to be received six months ahead of the activity/event so that appropriate consideration can be given to the request.

All proposals will be reviewed to assess suitability, feasibility and resource input required (human and monetary).
