Event organisers

The Queensland Government Event Organiser assists in planning your event. It will guide you through a series of questions to determine the permits you need. This includes food, public parks, signs, road closures, alcohol, music and fireworks.

Road closure

There are many community events that require road closures. Examples are:

  • sporting events such as marathons and motor racing
  • carnivals, fetes, displays or shows
  • parades or marches
  • shooting of a film or television program.

The whole road may need closing or perhaps one or two lanes. The road closure could involve different state government departments and various levels of approval. (Examples: Emergency Services, Queensland Police, Queensland Transport and Main Roads).

Contact your local office with our feedback form, for further information.

If your event requires closure of a council road, you will need to contact your local city or shire council.

Which council?

The Department of Department of Infrastructure and Planning provides a directory of local councils throughout Queensland.
